Orkney Interior: Homage to Ian Hamilton Finlay

In connection with something I'm writing about his relationship with Orkney, I've been thinking lately about IHF's 1960 collection The Dancers Inherit the Party. The title of one poem in particular, "Orkney Interior", struck me as being quite painterly in its implication—although filmic or cartoon-like might be the more appropriate term given the content—and it recalled his later screen print, made with Michael Harvey, Interior/Intérieur: Homage to Vuillard.

So with the help of my wife, Carol Dunbar, manager of Soulisquoy Printmakers in Stromness, the homage that appears below has emerged, in a small edition. It is at present included in an exhibition by members of the workshop at the Pier Arts Centre.
